Electronic Healthcare Records (EHR) is changing healthcare delivery

It just makes sense and is good for all of us – patients, care providers, and, not to mention, the IT industry.  The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is focused on a vision and is seeking health IT stakeholders in developing a roadmap that will achieve a core element of better care – health IT interoperability.

Those stakeholders include doctors, patients, hospitals, public health, researchers, policymakers, and technology developers.  Karen B. DeSalvo, MD makes the most important case of the entire EHR movement when she says “There is much work to do to see that every person, and their care providers, can get appropriate health information in an electronic format, when and how they need it, to make care convenient and well-coordinated and allow for improvements in overall health.”  Isn’t that what this is all about?

Over the last 10 years or so, we have seen huge developments in EHR and there is so much more to come. This community is the innovators that will make this a success!
